Richard, regarding the subscription price, I am not sure if they currently sell both apps as part of the subscription or each app has its own subscription, as far as I know it is price for both apps. Which may make it a better deal for those that have a Mac, but many people may not have the Mac.
Regarding the Bookshare, as a Bookshare developer partner I can say that they are very hostile to any other app than the ones that you have mentioned, for whatever reason. So I can say at the moment that my app does support Bookshare, has a feature set that is at least in some aspects better than Voice Dream (and it is individual who will love/need mode what, but overall it should have more features if you count them) and is completely free for the blind people. But as said Bookshare is very hostile to other apps. At this point I can say that I prepare updates for my app for November that will in most aspects double the feature set and move experience ahead probably more than cumulative update of any other apps for the last 5 years or even more. At that point it should be without much argue the best app out there. As the app is rewritten from the scratch it doesn't make sense to reinvest into the Bookshare support at the current usage. So I have just asked them for their confirmation that they will promote my app as they promote other apps (which it should deserve even without the update). Thus far no answer. And considering the history, I don't expect any.
