I don't use widgets as much as I did in Android, for the reasons Sieghard mentions below, but I do have one stacked widget on my home screen. This guesses what information you want the most at the time and displays it in that widget. I find it does a pretty good job. For example, I just noticed this morning that my Apple Watch battery was dying.
