NFC stands for "near field communication" and it is a set of wireless communication standards between devices with NFC capability and so-called NFC tags which they can read if they are a few centimeters away. NFC is also the underlying technology for touchless credit and debit card terminals where your phone or chip enabled credit card communicates with the NFC module in the card terminal to exchange the information needed to complete the transaction. NaviLens codes are not NFC, they are QR codes at least to my knowledge and are recognized by the Navilens app using the iPhone's camera which is why they can work from much further away.
