I would not at all be surprised if next year's regular iPhone 15 will get the A16 chip which is now in the 14 Pro and that the newest A17 chip will again only be in the Pro phones.

Having said what I said in my previous message I would wait until next year and buy an iPhone 15 or 15 Pro. It is extremely likely that next year the Lightning port goes away and a USB-C port is put in its place; whether we'll see Touch Id again in addition to Face Id is unlikely but not entirely out of the picture and I certainly won't upgrade my iPhone 11 which works great until next year. Does anyone have thoughts on either the iPhone 14 or 14 pro? For those who have either phone, how do you like them? I’ve never really had issues with any of my phones, and I hope to continue this streak if I do upgrade. Also, I’m wondering what is better. Should I go through the Apple Store and get a trade-in, or should I go through my carrier? I’m still doing all of the necessary research.
