Unfortunately you cannot create groups on an Iphone with over six recipients in messages. Also, you cannot create groups in mail on an iPhone. I assume from other repliers that the abc app may work.
I bought CardHop several years ago specifically to create groups of any length in messages and mail on my Iphone. I believe you now have to pay for a Fantastical/CardHop subscription. However, try signing up for the two week free trial. If you reject the trial I believe you may still get a free copy of CardHop. It doesn’t have as many features as the subscription has but you can create groups.
