And using it in a store you can either first bring the phone close to the terminal so the Apple Pay screen pops up and you can then look at the phone to authenticate or you can double click the side button as Alan suggested while you hold the phone so it's facing your face and this will authenticate, then you can bring the phone to the reader and the transaction will be approved. Of course you will have to briefly take off your Face Mask for this.

Fazil, The iPhone 13 Mini does not have a home button so fingerprints don't work at all. The face ID works wonderfully and though I have yet to use Apple Pay at a store, when I've accessed it at home to purchase an app or something in the App Store, pressing the side power button twice when using Apple Pay completes the transaction nicely.
