Unless you want to have the phone in a battery case all the time I would recommend a decent size external battery. If you only want to use it occasionally this will be a better option because you can get one which can charge your iPhone several times and you can use it to charge most anything else which plugs into a USB port like a headset, Apple Watch, an external speaker etc.
