Word is awful for editing on the iPhone. Notes is fine. I prefer Voice Dream Writer $9.99. When you go back to a document in process, you always land where you left off. It has a spell checker. It has several advanced editing features. You can export to RTF to keep your paragraphs, headings, etc. There is an export to Word that is "experimental" still but I have had issues with Word not working well with that exported file, but RTF works great.
There is a learning curve, but if you use Voice Dream Reader, the concepts are the same. Something as lengthy as a memoir, I think you will find it a great help when it comes to editing. Of course, Word on a computer is far, far superior.
