I strongly suspect the problem is with your charging cord. You should be able to type normally when the charger is not connected if that is the case. You can try another charger and see if you’re still having charging related issues. you should also bring down the battery charge to zero till the phone gets switched off by itself. You should turn it back on after two or three minutes. That should fix any issues you may have with the battery gauge.
