These are all good suggestions. However, screen curtain does not actually help conserve battery life; all it does is blacken the screen by coloring it black--not actually turn off the display. To conserve battery by turning off the screen, you'd need to turn down the brightness. I have turned off auto-brightness and set brightness to 0 in settings. If I need someone sighted to look at my phone, I use the brightness slider in control panel to turn up the brightness to 20-30%. This brightness level is usually sufficient for most sighted individuals.
