Don,
The first thing you need to do when changing a gmail account from POP to IMAP is to go to the applicable gmail account using a browser, access the account settings, and go to the tab with Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings. I’m assuming from your below description that POP is already turned on beginning with a specific date for this account. The first section of these settings deals with POP. The second section deals with IMAP access. In this second section under item 1, you should mark the radio button to Enable IMAP. You can have the same account enabled for both POP and IMAP. I used to do this because on my old Windows 7 computer, I had Outlook 2010 configured as POP but I used IMAP to access the same account with my iPhone SE 2020. As Anna said, you will need to go to the settings for Mail on your iPhone to delete the account currently set as POP in order to add it again as IMAP. To do this: 1. Go to Settings and double tap. 2. Go to Mail (a good bit down the screen) and double tap. 3. Go to Accounts and double tap. 4. Go to the gmail account you want to change to IMAP and double tap. 5. Confirm that this is the correct email address and swipe to Delete account and double tap. 6. Go back to the previous Accounts screen and find Add account and double tap. 7. Input the requested info for your gmail account and I believe the default will be to set it as IMAP. I hope the above helps for getting your gmail account set as IMAP on the iPhone. The process is a bit more involved with your email client in Windows but it sounds as if you’ve already addressed that. Good luck.
