I do have it on the charger- hearing nothing so far- but no idea how long it will take on WIFI. So, is it true that WIFI usually takes longer than iTunes? Thanks for your ready help.

I forget all what you will read or hear , but if you do use Wifi you'll be able to keep track of what's happening.
