A google search will reveal numerous battery saving tips.  An
excellent blindness related one is to keep the screen contrast at
zero. Screen illumination drains batteries.  As blind people, we don’t
need to see the screen so it can be dimed.  Also, constantly topping
off the battery when it is more than 80 percent charged will cut down
its lifespan.
