I don't know if you can. I had a smart battery case that if you recharged your iPhone, the battery case would recharge at the same time. The only reason why I stopped using the smart case was it turned my iPhone's lightning port into a micro USB port and I needed the lightning connector to hook up wired headphones for recording my guitar playing.
