Well, as I said, when I start working on something and it doesn’t work right away, I’ll keep workingat it until either I get it right, or I've exhausted absolutely every possibility. the subject tells you what happened, but I'll tell you how I got there. I went into the IMAP settings of the account in the native app on my iPhone, and after some digging, I found where the outgoing port setting could be changed. I changed it and then I hit the DONE button. Now, here's where the fun began. That screen with all the settings was still there, but there was no done or back button. I tried hitting other controls on the screen, but they did nothing. I finally had to go into the app switcher and close the Settings app, and the old port came back. I tried everything I could, but nothing worked. This included rebooting my iPhone and shutting down all apps, and still no joy. Finally, out of desperation, I decided to try one last thing. I put the correct outgoing port in, hit done, and when that stupid screen that I couldn't do anything on came up, I tried to send a message from the IMAP account. Guess what? It actually was sent! Woo Hoo. I closed Settings and sent another message, and it still worked! I then opened settings and checked to see if the new port was still there, and it wasn't. I canceled out of that screen, closed Settings and sent another message. It worked again, and I bet it will still work. I powered off and on the phone, restarted the email app, sent another test message, and still no problem. I'm so happy that I could write things that would lose my religion, so I won't. I have absolutely no idea what's going on, but I won't complain. All that matters is it works! I got rid of Outlook, and I'll happily stick to the good old built in email app. All I can say is Apple had better not do a single thing in an update to break it. That's it from me to this list for tonight. I need to send one last message to the list that set up the email account that I use, take Jilly out, have something to drink, take meds and GO TO BED!
