You have to select if you want to add them as a phone number or text message etc. Assume you have a contact with a work phone number and a mobile phone number and an email address. Once you tap Add to Favorites, a dialogue pops up which says "Add to Favorites" at the top. Then, for example, you may see "Message, Mobile" and that is followed by "Expand" if you swipe right. Then "Call Mobile" and again a swipe to the right is "Expand". If you were to tap simply on Call Mobile then you would have an entry in your Favorites with the person's name and tapping it would call their mobile. If you want back to repeat for the same person and tap on "Message, Mobile" then a second entry with the same name would be added, but if you tap on it it would start a text message. If the person's number is an iPhone number you would also see an option for "Video, Facetime" and since you have an email address for the contact you would see "Mail, email". All of these options have an "expand" option and this is where, for example, you would find the person'w work number. You would go to where it says "Call" and tap the expand and any other numbers you have entered for that person would then show so you could, for example, make an entry in Favorites to call their Work number. If their number is an iPhone number you also get a Facetime option under the "Call" option and this would then initiate a Facetime Audio Call, the video option as I said before is under the "Video" area. Basically you have the different ways to contact a person, message, call, video call and mail and under each any numbers, email addresses or other apps which can make calls or video calls would show up. For example, when I look under contacts which have Whats App then if I expand Video I also get the WhatsApp option as does the Call section because you can make both audio and video calls with WhatsApp.
