if you go into settings, Calendar, you can set a default alert prior to your appointment. This will be used for all new appointments after you have set a default alert time. You can edit your current ones and dig into the details to turn on alerts. Using Siri is excellent and for reading your appointments, the $4.99 for Fantastical 2 is beyond worth the price. Richard
