You can put your setting on Automatic Answer, answers on the second ring - a 
very good thing for people like my nephew with ALS.

        I was just going to go on and rant some more because it used to be that 
when I said “Open General Settings” SIRI would say something like “Sorry 
Sieghard, I can’t do that”.

        Of course I can say Accessibility Settings, Voiceover Settings, Sound 
Settings, WiFi Settings, SIRI Settings and all sorts of other things, but 
General Settings never used to work.

        Now I thought before I send this message I better try it to write down 
what SIRI says and to my surprise now General Settings opens although 
interestingly enough SIRI still started saying “Sorry Sieghard” and then it 
stopped and Settings > General opened.

        I repeated it and SIRI said “Oh, Oh” just as if she was about to say 
“Oh Oh, I can’t do that” but then again General Settings opened.

        I should add to this that I am running the public beta of iOS 12.1 
which will probably be out in a week or so, I would be curious to hear what 
others experience when they say “General Settings” or “Open General Settings”.

        You can also go to settings > general and at the way bottom of the 
screen you can find a shut down button. that will bring up the power off 
screen.

                        I've also heard that if you press and hold one of the 
volume buttons and the power buttons you can end up dialing 911. I think you

your phone? If you do, I will be very curious how that transfer works for you, 
since my second language keyboard is no where and evidence, although it is said 
to be so into settings. That switch were you switch from one keyboard to 
another while in it and it is simply not there.

 The problem is that voice over dies in the middle of the set up process and

fix to no avail.

                                        I gave her access to my laptop and also 
gave her access to my phone camera and we tried very hard to get the setup of

                                        Cris, I don't know if this will help, 
but this is what we did with our ipad when we didn't have anyone hear to get 
the ipad going. When we got our ipad about a year ago I tripple tapped the home 
button on the ipad and it began talking. I don't know if this will work with 
the phone, and if nothing else as worked yet, maybe you could give it a try. 
Another thought, you might want to install itunes on your computer, if you 
don't already have it installed, hook your phone up to your computer and see 
what you could do to get your phone going. You probably have a solution by now 
with listers that have responded to you, but I hope you could find a solution 
soon, and let us know how you like your new phone.

go into recovery mode to wipe it clean.

                                        What do you suggest I do?

                                        When I do the command for recovery 
mode, I get a message on iTunes telling me that iTunes cannot connect to the  
iPhone until I enter a passcode.  Try again or cancel.  

                                        I never had a problem like this with 
apple products.  Could it be that my phone is defective or is there something 
wrong with the new iPhone compatibility with the iTunes?
