I'll add my recommendation for the Amazon Echo, though I won't expand on it, since that takes this dramatically off topic. You do not need a paid account to use the TuneIN skill. To bring it back on topic for this list, you can set it up using the Alexa app, though I would recommend doing the set up through the web. The last time I tried to set mine up using the iOS app, the list of Wifi networks kept refreshing every 2 seconds or so, which made it difficult to get the Echo to connect to Wifi. I know that sighted people do not have this issue with the iOS appp, but it certainly was problematic from the perspective of a VoiceOver user. It may be a non-issue for this set up if your father does not live in an area where there are many Wifi networks.
