This is a good solution but you're not actually changing the name of the
icon on the screen. What you're doing is associating a label in
VoiceOver with the icon on the screen. The icon on the screen itself is
not changing. Like I said, a good solution though.

Do a two finger double tap and hold, wait for the tri-tone, then you
should have an edit box where you can change the name.

That may mean that they are both using the same icon. Do you have
any sighted help?
I've run into issues like that with some weather apps, and when I
rename one, they both get renamed.
So, I put them in different folders.
