Most iPads except iPad 2 and original can be updated, maybe also not some of the first iPad Minis. I would do a Reset Network Settings and try again. If you want to know which one exactly you have, it is easiest to find the iPad’s “A number”. This is a code with starts with an A and is followed by 4 numbers and all Apple devices have it. You can ask a sighted person to look this up on the back of the device or you can go to Settings > General > About, swipe down to “Model” which in the case of the iPad starts with a “M”, then double tap on this and it turns into the A Number. This is actually something I didn’t know so thanks for asking this and making me look this up on Google where I found this information in the article. This also works on the iPhone, the default model number displayed starts with a “N”, but if you ever want to download an IPSW file and make sure you get the correct one for your model of phone you will need this A number.
For your information, here is the information from an article I found when I Googled “How to identify my iPad’s model number” There have been a total of 15 iPad models: iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad 9.7in (2017) iPad Air and iPad Air 2 iPad mini, iPad mini 2 with Retina display, iPad mini 3 and iPad mini 4 iPad Pro 12.9in (2015), iPad Pro 9.7in (2016), iPad Pro 10.5in (2017) and iPad Pro 12.9in (2017) In the same article is a table with all the “A numbers” so once you ask somebody for that number or looked it up in Settings > General > About you can now go to this article and look it up or just Google it directly and chances are you find what iPad you have eaisily enough. Lightning port at the bottom. Available in black or white. Retina display. Introduced November 2012. Also is there a way to check and see what my iPad is for sure. Is it an iPad 4 or something else? When I go into the check for updates it says it is in progress. It has been saying that for a a couple weeks now. I have rebooted the Ipad with no change. Any assistance on these questions will be appreciated.
