I did fix the problem. What I ended up doing was going in to settings, general, reset, and reset network. Once the network settings were reset and the phone was rebooted, everything worked just fine. It has been said that before you install an update to IOS on the phone that you should reset network settings first. I never had problems before, so I did not do this, but I will do this for now on.
