off, remove the SIM card and reinsert it, then turn the phone back on and
try it.
If all of this doesn't work you probably should contact your carrier.

have checked this and all is correct. I forgot to mention before I have
tried calling the number from another phone and am told the number is not
available. I can make calls from the phone.

Have you checked the volume of your ringer, maybe it's turned all the way
down. Go to Settings > Sound and then make sure it's up all the way and
