There is no cost for the Kindle app, you just buy books on Amazon. I believe there is some sort of unlimited option in the States, you can probably find that pretty easily on the Amazon website. Just as with Audible, you can't buy books from inside the Kindle app because then Amazon would have to pay Apple 30% as it would be considered an in-app purchase. You buy your books on Amazon and they then are available from inside the Kindle app.
