That is the problem right there, POP stores messages locally which means your sent messages are stored on the computer and, unless you set it to keep a copy of messages on the server, also incoming messages are kept on the computer only after they are downloaded. This means if you ever lost your local data store all your email would be gone. I highly recommend you switch this to IMAP, this way your messages are kept on the Yahoo servers and you can set up other devices also with IMAP and everything will be synchronised.
