Well, I have a slightly different take on this issue. I'm not a fan of
telling someone how much information they should or shouldn't include in
their posts. If someone wants their message to be read by the most
people then they'll take the time to make it readable, spell checking,
proof reading, adding some information about a link, using a good
subject line and so on. If someone doesn't want to take the time to do
this then they may not get as many people reading their message.
Not every message has to be read and not every link needs to be
followed. If there isn't enough information in the message to have you
follow the link then don't follow the link and delete the message. I
think Mr. Ed suggests this himself.
For my part, the subject line and the URL told me enough about this link
to let me know I didn't want to follow it. I don't think Shaf was being
very rude posting this link.

I sort of agree with Ed, yes, you can check what the underlying URL of a link is, but not
everybody on this list may know how to do this and I actually don't think one should have
to do this. Also, in this case the link wasn't even forwarding to a particular article
with instructions but it was simply pulling up a page full of Google search results. He
could have just as well posted "Just do a Google search for How to delete pictures
from your iPhone" or whatever the exact search term was he used. Given the various
skill levels of members on the list I think either post nothing or at least post the
basic steps and then it's OK to post a link to an article which describes it in more
detail.

Sieghard

Hi,
I only made the suggestion because I have received emails that were made to
look like my wife had sent me the emails and there was a link to click on in
the email. I bet you that if I would have click on the link it would have been
some kind of spam, or virus. So that is why it is nice to have a comment on the
link and not to just send a link. Let me ask you this question. When you
receive an email with just a link in it do you just click on it. Well if you do
you are opening yourself up to a big security risk. So if you don't like my
suggestion just hit the delete key.

Hi,
The link says what it's about. How to delete pictures off an iPhone, with file
explorer. How much more can one give about it?

Hi shaf,
I think that when you just post a link and do not say anything about it that is
very rude on your part. I for one like to know what is suppose to be on the
link. With email security these days I have received numerous emails with just
links posted in them. So I and I think everyone else on this list would
appreciate it if you take a little of your time to explain what is on the link.
Thank you and have a good day.
Mr. Ed
