Google says it will soon, but right now if you want audio you will have
to lock your screen. Then it turns into an audio call. One thing about
duo is that sighted people will love it. they will see the person
calling them before they answer the call. So if the person calling you
doesn't look their best and you don't either, you'll know that before
you take their call. But the audio seems good.

guessing it does not have an audio option?

Duo is a separate app, but it works on both platforms. But no, it's not
linked to facetime or anything like that.

is duo different from facetime or is that the android way of talking
to the apple facetime users?

Yes both people will need to have duo installed. It's in both app stores
on both platforms. I haven't tried it on the iPhone yet, but it is very
accessible on Android with talkback. All of my Android buddies really
like it. It verifies your phone number on first install by sending you a
text message. Then it can pull up your contacts and either let you call
someone who has the app or invite those who don't.

Does the person you’re calling have to have the app also? I would
also like to thank all of you for your responses. My sister posed
the exact same question to me today and I was able to answer her.
Thanks a bunch

i think that Duo, is still just video calls only as yet.
where as Facetime, viber, and some others, allows you to make voice
only calls.

Facetime only works with Apple devices, however Google has an app that
functions similar to facetime called duo which works on both
devices and
makes it possible to video call with Android users. The only
difference
is that duo requires that you have phone service because it works
based
on your phone number. However you can use wifi or mobile data with
duo.
