I’m no expert on gmail and maybe others can help, but one thing I can tell you is that your iCloud storage and backing up to iCloud has nothing to do with your gmail account. Your gmail email is stored on Google’s gmail servers and will not be backed up to iCloud. You should log in to gmail using a web browser and check to see if your folders which in gmail is not actually the correct term, they are just labels which appear as folders, are still there. You may simply not see these emails you are talking about because only a certain number of email is synced to your iPhone or iPad. If this works the same with gmail accounts, you can go to Settings > Mail Contacts Calendars, double tap on your gmail account and take a look to see if there is a button that says “Mmail days to ssync”. This may be set to something like Unlimited, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month. I have this setting for my Outlook account and it basically tells the Mail app to only sync mail from whatever time frame is set. If you have it sett o 1 week then older mail will not be synced any more, you can set this to “Unlimited” if you want to sync all your mail.
I do, by the way, doubt her internet provider would wipe her iPad, that would be very bad and illegal. Good luck, Sieghard From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Regina Alvarado Sent: Tuesday, August 9, 2016 7:32 AM To: Viphone <[email protected]> Subject: HELP!!! Syncing, how, why and when? I need a quick course on syncing. Let me see if I can make this as succint as possible. A friend has an iPhone and an iPad. On the iPad she saved emails and audio memos for a number of things. At first when she added anything to her iPad it would immediately show in her phone or visa versa. In iCloud what she wants to sync are selected on each device. Two days ago she suddenly lost email in folders from gmail and yahoo but only some, not all she had saved. She also lost audio memos on iPad but not phone. How does she sync phone with iPad so they are on both devices? She thinks her internet provider wiped her iPad while she was in hospital. I think it has something to do with syncing, but I don't understand syncing or how or when to sync, and she thinks I am expert with mobile devices, which definitely I am not. HELP!!!!! For my information and to help a friend relax, can someone give me a crash course quickly? Oh, I also had a folder to save a few emails. I lost them completely about 6 weeks ago from a gmail folder I made. They are just gone, however. My friend is paying for increased memory on iCloud. I know she has plenty of memory there. I only have the 5 gigs they give but have 64 gigs on the phone. My head is spinning! (smiley) Thanks a bunch for rescuing me! reggie & Lex -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
