If you set up a Google account on your iPhone, and you only select
Contacts, then you'll only get Contacts. This will just sync your Google
Contacts in the cloud with the Google Contacts on your phone. Once you
remove your Google account from your phone then you'll lose the contacts.
I just use Gmail, my Google account and my Google Contacts across all of
my devices.

so I've done some reading and I think the best way for me to move
contacts over is to do a cardav account. My question is, can I remove
the google account after the contacts are moved over? And will this just
move contacts? That's all I want it to do.
