Have you gone to Settings, General, Restrictions and confirmed the iTunes settings there? Do you have automatic updates turned on? Go to Settings, iTunes & app store to check the settings there. If you have automatic updates turned on and restrictions set to require a password immediately, this could be the cause of your problem.
