Hi Robin, 1. In the Sonos app go to Settings > Room settings. Select the player you want to adjust. Note: The player of course has to support Line-In, so a Play 5, Connect or Connect Amp only. Also, you have to have at least a cable plugged into the line-in port otherwise the option is not displayed. 2. Find the "Line-In button and double tap 3. You now have 3 choices: Line-In source name: here you can name your source, e.g. on a Connect in my office where I have a cable attached I can plug into my laptop I call "Computer". Line-in source level: here you have presets from 1 to 10 and some are named, e.g. Level 1 is Low, Level 2 is A/V component, Level 4 is Airplay, Level 6 is Mac Computer, Level 8 is portable player/PC, Level 10 is High. Auto Play Room: here you can select between "None" or any other layer you have. For example, I have a cable with a 3.5mm male port hooked up to my Master Bedroom Connect Amp and I have Auto Play set to Master Bedroom. If I start an Audible book on my iPhone and then while it's playing plug in the cable, the book will play within a couple of seconds via Sonos even if something else was playing before on that player. 4. You also have two more options: Include grouped rooms: if you turn this on it means that any rooms/players which were grouped with the player you select for auto play will also be included and the audio source will play on all players/in all rooms. Use autoplay volume: If you turn this on you can set a volume level at which the audio will start playing.

Can you point me to where it resides in the settings area just out of curiosity? thanks as always for teaching me something new; and yay for Sonos functionality. It never ceases to amaze and make me smile. If it's a Play 1 or Play 3 then the answer is no since they don't have an input jack. If it's a Play 5 then as Robin said, you could use a 3.5mm male to male cord to connect the headphone jack of the iPhone to the 3.5mm input on the Play 5. Of course you would have to first open the Sonos controller on your phone and select to play from the Line-In port because otherwise as soon as you plug in the cord into the headset jack you wouldn't hear Voiceover any more. You can also configure Sonos to auto detect when you plug something in and to automatically play this source which is an even better way to do this. The two other players in the Sonos line which have inputs are the Connect and Connect Amp which both have RCA type inputs so you need a 3.5mm male to RCA male cable (the one with the red/white ends). Now, would it be possible for the Sonos speaker to act as a standard speaker whereby it amplifies anything from the iPhone, regular Voiceover speech and such? -- Musings of a Work in Progress: www.JoeOrozco.com/ Twitter: @ScribblingJoe -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Friday, December 11, 2015 1:20 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Playing Personal Content on Sonos Hi Joe, Are you referring to music when you say "personal content" or do you mean things like audio books or podcasts you may have saved in MP3 format? As Robin pointed out, you can link to a music library and this can contain really anything in MP3 or AAC format (Sonos also supports other formats such as FLAC etc.). There is also an option to play content from "On this iPhone" and this would be anything you sync to your phone and that is accessible to the music app. Which player do you have? The Play 5 also has the ability to hook up any device which has a 3.5mm or RCA output. I've got one of their speakers but only found the means to play Internet content. Yet, this must surely be idiot user error. Thanks in advance for some tips on setting me straight.
