No, sighted people see icons which are little pictures and there is also the text which Voiceover reads. For example, the Phone app has a picture of a phone and underneath it says "Phone". The Facebook app has blue background with a large white F on it. My wife says she really pays attention to the name of the app and usually just looks at the icon/picture to find a particular app. It is my guess that most sighted people do this.
