I bought it on July 19th. I usually lock it while listening to books or music. I am not sure it is getting as good battery life as my 5th Generation did when I had it. They say you should get 40 hours of playback when locked. I'm probably getting half of that or less, I think. I have not kept a running log or anything, so it might be more. That still isn't bad but not what I expected. Richard
