Yes, and last week I went back to the App Store and saw there was a slight change in the In-App Purchase notice, so I thought they had fixed the issue. I clicked to download the app and realized I had made full purchase when I received a receipt from iTunes.
This is very sloppy of Apple and the developers. Yes, I was planning to purchase, but I was waiting for another discount gift card or cut in pricing, but did want the trial use.
