Yes, assistive touch should be useful in that situation, it just gives you a
button on the screen, normally on the righthand side that will simulate
pressing the home button etc.
There are more options as well to take you in to multi tasking but I stil think
that you have to three finger swipe to close them but I could stand corrected
here.

Subject: Assistive Touch

Hi all

In iOS, there is an accessibility feature called Assistive touch found under
the interaction heading. Our Hannah and I are looking into this as a way of not
only simulating the hardware buttons on a device, but to also simulate gestures
some may find difficult, such as three finger gestures. She knows a friend who
is not only blind but has low muscle tone. This friend has recently joined the
Apple Ecosystem thanks to an iPhone 4s. Due to the low muscle tone, she finds
it hard to do a three finger gesture to close an app from the App Switcher for
example. In your opinion, do you feel assistive touch may help? I also have a
question of my own. How the heck do you stop simulating those multifinger
gestures? I may have worked it out, but wonder if anyone has any ideas please?

Thank you, any replies greatly appreciated.
