No problem.

I have quite a few email addresses obviously including some gmail ones such as the one I use for this list.

My provider does support imap.

I may just create a second account or delete the pop account and start over.

Thanks.

Don

You'll need to make sure your email provider supports IMAP. If you're talking about your Gmail account then it does and you can change it from POP to IMAP on the Gmail web page.

You shouldn't lose any data on the server, but any email you've downloaded to a local machine with POP will no longer be on the server, so you won't be able to access it with your IMAP account.

The default for a Gmail account on IOS is now IMAP.

I'm not exactly sure how to do it, and I couldn't find any good instructions on the web, but if it were me, I'd:
1) Switch from POP to IMAP on my Gmail web page.
2) Create a new account on my iPhone, which will be IMAP by default for Gmail. 3) Leave my old POP account around, and maybe disable it, so I'll still have access to any emails I've downloaded locally. 4) If you find you don't have any messages stored locally that you care about then you can delete your POP account. 5) You can always move local messages into an IMAP folder and they'll be uploaded into Gmail's IMAP server. I'm not sure how to do this in the iPhone client since I'm not sure I've seen how to copy messages from one account into another, but you could do this with a desktop client, such as Thunderbird.

Sorry I wasn't more help.

Hi listers.

I have an email account on my iPhone I set up a long time ago as a pop account.

I Want to change it to impa without losing any email messages already on the phone.

I don't see a setting in the mail settings to change from pop to imap.

I don't think just changing the port numbers will do the trick.

Do I have to delete the account and recreate it, is that the only way?

Thanks in advance.
