Hello Everyone, I recently received the following questions/comments from a friend, off-list.
In hope that some will find my answers useful, I am posting them to the list: Please keep in mind that how the app behaves, including available options, will depend upon your current GPS activity and location. Comment: When I get into the map view by accident, I find it difficult to get out of it. Reply: All things being equal, when you're in the Map View, simply single-finger double-tap on the Map to bring up menu bars located at the top of the display and at the bottom of the display. If no action is taken, the menus will disappear after about 5 seconds. Comment: Also, I don't know how to locate or access favorites. Reply: To access your Favorite destinations, said destinations having been marked as a favorite previously, your Recent destinations, or to quickly navigate to your home address from your current location, etc, 1. In the Map View, place focus in the Search-edit field located at the top of the display. Make sure this edit field is empty. 2. Single-finger double-tap the edit field. A results list will appear. The first item in this results list will be the Favorites button. The second item in the list will allow you to quickly navigate to your home address from your current location. The remaining items in this list are recent searches. 3. For more options, including seeing your recent destinations, the ability to quickly navigate to a Contact address, etc single-finger double-tap the Favorites item in the results list and explore the resulting screen thoroughly. Comment: Finally, there used to be a transit option. Now, apparently, you can use Apple Maps with other apps. Reply: I'm not certain about the transit feature but from within any iOS app, such as Yelp, when you double-tap on an address, Apple Maps will launch with the address field already populated.
