It happened to me for a second time when I was installing this latest update, at the very end. I have gotten the impression, more so this time than last when I was basically in a panic wondering how to fix it, that the phone has enough information in it already to complete the update, that it really doesn't need iTunes any more anyway. I just waited, maybe 30 seconds, and my phone came back on, wanting to be unlocked. It was still disconcerting, but not the panic, when it happened this time, I don't know why it happens, I wish it didn't. If it happens next time, I will calmly sit there and wait to see if my phone comes back on, on its own, as it did today.
