There is a podcast on direct touch typing. You can find it on the AppleVis
site, and it is worth listening to to get an understanding of the typing mode.

I view the three typing modes as a continuum from elementary to advanced.
Standard typing is the elementary mode, double- or split-tapping each letter.
Touch typing is the intedmediate mode, faster than standard. Direct touch
typing is the advanced mode, the fastest of them all. For it to work, you will
want to have word predictions active. Personally, I have not had the ability
or motivation to achieve success with direct touch typing. It requires precise
finger movements and attention to word prediction, since the predictions that
are offered compensate for common typing errors. If one plans to type a lot on
the screen, and feels able to master this mode, then the rewards will be great.

Subject: Thank you for the help with the recording question, no question about
typing.

Hello again everyone,

As my subject says, I have another question. This one has to do with typing. I
do appreciate the earlier help, regarding my audio recording.

Right now, I am using the standard typing. I would like to use the direct touch
typing. But I do not know how to do this. I have tried before, but I don't
think my hands are steady enough to do it. I think I move around on the screen
too much.
Is there an easy way to learn how to do this? Is it faster?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much!
