So basically I've tested this with Arch, Void, and Manjaro quests, and
they will all hang on grub with "Loading Linux..." on the display,
however the system itself does not stop and continues as normal. If you
then start Xorg you will get output to the display again and things will
work normally there, but changing ttys will cause the display to turn
off. An easy way to test this is with the Manjaro ISO which allows you
to switch between nouveau and the official driver on grub.

Nouveau does not exhibit this problem.
