there anything I can do manually (and safely) to just delete the alias?

Remove it from rcpthosts or morerctphosts, remove it from
virtualdomains, remove it from users/assign
rebuild morercpthosts and users/assign (qmail-newmrh and qmail-newu) and
send qmail-send a HUP signal.
