Thanks for replying. I have done a find for shadow.c and came up empty handed. The OS is FreeBSD.
./toaster_setup.pl -s vpopmail was run as root.
I have tried the above on one other server. That server produced the same results when attempting to install vpopmail.

vchkpw.c:40: shadow.h: No such file or directory

The name shadow seems to imply shadow passwords. I might be wrong. The thing is, when ./toaster_setup.pl is run, it asks questions. One of them is 'do you use system accounts' to which the answer is no.
