In Solaris, you have to use a -R to compile in the path to the linked lib... I didn't see what OS you were using but maybe this'll help you out:
mail4:~/devel/ucspi-chris 8% cat conf-cc gcc -O2 -I/usr/local/mysql/include/mysql conf-ld gcc -s -I/usr/local/mysql/include/mysql -R/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -L/usr /local/mysql/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient This will be used to link .o files into an executable. hope it helps.
