I figured out what was wrong last night, and got it working.

Even though I copied everything from server A, to server B:
/home/vpopmail
/var/qmail/alias
/var/qmail/control
/var/qmail/users

(These are the only files needed to restore from what I understand)

I unpacked everything on server B, every looked the same as server A,
but did not work.

So, the only difference I could find, was the User ID's and Group ID's

Example,

Vpopmail UID was 510 on server A, and UID was 522 on server B

So, I reapplied all user & group ID's to all files, (I used webmin for
this, nice and easy, not sure the command line)

Something still wasn't right, so I found this

/home/vpopmail/bin
./vdominfo

The vdominfo, printed out the listing, which said my UID & GID's were
the same as on the server A, so I simply changed the UID & GID, save
changes to all files, and everything is now working.

(I changed the UID's & GID's in webmin, I am not sure how to do that,
and apply to all files through the command line)

So, now I'm a happy camper, and will know what to do next time.

Now, to figure out how to forward emails from the old queue, to the new
queue.

Thanks

Michael

Subject: Re: [vchkpw] Problem with vpopmail

I too moved my /home/vpopmail directory after a fresh install and could
not authenticate. I corrected the problem when I did a fresh install,
and then:

* Added domains with vadddomain
* Deleted ~vpopmail/domains/<all-domain-directories>
* Moved the domains from my backup to ~vpopmail/domains/

I think the problem has to do with ~vpopmail/domains/.dir-control but
I'm not sure. Does anyone out there know the "right" way to restore
vpopmail?
