one of the ideas that you should have found from the archives if you are using mysql,
check for clear password options and database structure compatibility in general.
Another idea i can give you is (if you are using pop before smtp) something I have ran
into a couple of days ago is that pop fails while rebuilding tcp.smtp.cdb table -
deleting all the open.smtp files in the vpopmail etc dir helped me. for more info
please provide more on your config.
