Hi,

Just for information, I found a pop3 proxy (perdition is its name) which can receive 
imap or pop3-ssl/tls or simple pop3 and send queries over pop3-sll/tls or pop3.
It can be a good solution to use it if your mail stands stands on an untrusted network 
and listens to pop3-ssl/tls or imap-ssl/tls without any appearing change for the end 
users.
