vpopmail Auth

i installed qmail and vpopmail on suse 7.2 box.
the problem am having is the pop3 user is not
being athuenticated

i setup vpopmail
with the folling group and user
vchkpw
vpopmail
in /var/vpopmail

In the folder of the defaut domain i created are
the following folders...
user1 posmaster vpasswd vpasswd.cdb

any ideas where i can look to fix this problem??
Am lost.
