I have an ISP with about 250,000 messages per day on qmail and
vpopmail-4.9.10.
It all works good except for the fact that I have recently had a large
number of "direct" marketing sites like edirectnetwork.net going to my mx
and posting 15,000 and 30,000 messages at a time to seeming random name
combinations of my domains.
These always seem to be excepted, and then when the user is not reachable,
about %90 of them, then we bounce the messages.
Now, there smtp server is slower than congress, and my qmail gets backed
up with deliveries... I have bumped up the remote deliveries until memory
prevents me from doing more, but there is still long mail delays because
of this.
My question is, Is there a way of having qmail-smtpd actually authenticate
the receiver instead of excepting the message?
if so, how might this be accomplished?
If it is not presently able to be done, what developement would be
required and how could I help it?
Thanks for all thoughts.
