A lot of extremely helpful people are working hard to make vpopmail even
better than it already is. Or do you mean to imply that there is something
wrong with vpopmail development?

It was a stable version.

4.9.10 is a stable release and has been flawless for us. 4.10.29 is a
development release. By definition, it has too many bugs to be used in
production.

Don't use 4.10.29. From the page you downloaded 4.10.29:
Be aware that these are development versions and not fully tested. We do not
recommend you run these versions in production except in very special
circumstances. It is best if you run these versions
on machines which have no critical data.
And:
Do not blame us if something breaks.
So, to sum up: Do not use developmental code in production environments. If
for some reason you feel you must, be prepared to deal with the consequences.
Preferably, fix it yourself and submit a patch.
