i found your question quite astonishing, as vpopmail is originally
meant for pop3 access (i guess it's pop3 that you want). All that
webmail stuff was added later.
well.. i assume you're using qmail, so you would use a combination of
qmail-popup vchkpw and qmail-pop3d
